I got this P2 800 (ok its past its sell by date ) but wanna use it as a kinda ''test bed'', trouble is it only boots up sometimes....other times it just starts up with black screen & flashing carat in top left corner & nothing.

Well I been messin with that puter & got os installed & when it runs it runs fine. Done all kinds of h/d checks & mem checks all check out OK. But still on re-boot its a lottery ? Sometimes I win & sometimes it hangs ( before its done anything )
Flatty ( is a bit baffled) & If Dameon makes ANY comment.......he is a DEAD MAN WALKING !!!!

So you ever sort out the problem? I have had to fix a number of computers lately with a similar problem. They all turn out to need a new MB.
