Question About Csg Subtract

Come my grasshoppers, and you shall learn

- Instead of using CSG Subtract to manipulate your brushes you can use two tools, remember their names, they will become your favorite tools ever ( no kidding ). Clipper and Vertice Manipulator Thingamajig.

- Press X for the clipper tool, now click on a piece of your brush and you get a point with 1 on it, now click in another section and you will get a dot with 2 on it. What it will do is slice the brush between the points, press enter to complete the transformation.

- Press E for the Vertice Manipulator Thingamajic. With your brush selected it will now have 6 points for you to drag to any position to transform your brush. Note though, once you get real complex shapes and use this tool it might make the brush 'fail' and disappear, immediatly press backspace to delete the brush before you deselect it because in reality its still there, just unseen, and can kill your fps.

- Here are some screenshots of how to make an arch or circle in a wall made using both the mentioned tools. I will have them selected with both E on and off so you can see how to position the verts.

----56K please wait for images to load, sorry about the size----

[Here we have our Arch set up in the Radiant using only the 'E' tool]

[Here is how our Arch was set up, pay attention to the position of the verts]

[Here we have our Hole set up in Radiant using both the E tool and the clipper tool to make some small cuts on the triangles]

[Here is how our Hole was set up, pay attention to the position of the verts and brushes adjacent to the hole. Also notice the large number of brushes to make the hole, this is because its a more complex 12 sided hole, 8 sided would look a little blockier but still have the overall circular shape. Instead of using two triangles in the corners you would only use one 90 degree triangle to make an 8 sided hole]
